Grupo Fantasma
The Long Center is having a Terrace Concert Series, where they have free concerts outdoors, on the terrace. I happened to go when Grupo Fantasma was playing. One of the cows from the Austin CowParade was there to greet us. This one is called Eye Cowrumba!
They played mostly salsa music, which was fun. It was a bit to warm to dance for me, but this couple in front of us seemed to be having a blast, and they were amazing dancers.
I couldn’t get a great shot of the band while sitting and trying to keep all my limbs from touching myself so that I wouldn’t melt to death, so here’s one of theirs.
The next concert coming up is the Marshall Ford Swing Band on October 23rd, 2011 at 6pm, and I’m really looking forward to that one. It’s not listed on the Long Center website yet, but it is on the swing band’s. The Long Center has its own parking garage, and it costs $7 to park. There were lots of seats when we went, but the place was pretty jammed. I would get there early. Lots of people had snacks and beverages, and I was jealous. I will plan better for the next one, and I’m excited!
